Allen Bradley Guardmaster TLS-GD2 Solenoid Interlock Switch - for Demanding Applications

The TLS-GD2 switch by Allen Bradley Guardmaster provides exceptional protection for personnel and machinery by keeping safety guards securely locked and closed while the machine is in motion, and by keeping power isolated when the guard is open. This positive mode, tongue operated guard locking interlock switch features three safety (N.C.) contacts and two auxiliary (N.O.) contacts.

This switch is perfect for use with machines which do not stop instantly, or which may be damaged by interference while in motion. The secure interlock mechanism is released only when an external signal is applied to the internal solenoid, which then allows the safety guard to be opened. This signal can be via CU1 electronic timer relays or CU2 stopped motion detectors.

This safety switch is available in three types:

The TLS-1 GD2 & TLS-3 GD2 have power-to-release function, are available with escape release options, and are intended for machine guarding with full body access. They have two manual release points with security screws to allow the locked switch to be released in emergencies, and an optional lid-mounted key-release style can also be supplied. Intentional unlocking of the switch is possible from within a hazardous area via the escape release push-button on the rear side, to ensure a means of escape for a person who may become trapped. The TLS-3 is expertly designed to eliminate the problems of lockout when interfacing solenoid locking switches into dual channel safety relays. The TLS-2 GD2 has power-to-lock function.

Features and Benefits:

• High locking force 2000 N (450 lb) for superior protection
• Convenient rotatable head with 2 entry slots, 4 possible actuator entry positions, and provided with a blanking plug to seat the unused slot
• Lid mounted status indication for fast troubleshooting
• 3 manual release points with security screws for use in the event of an emergency and key release lids available for unlocking the locking mechanism in emergencies
• Excellent IP67 rating, which makes it dust-tight and durable against temporary immersion in water
• A robust stainless-steel actuator guide is fitted to defend the switch from actuator damage due to poor guard alignment or guard wear
• Each type of switch has five sets of contacts of various forms: 2 NC & 1 NO for door position monitoring, 1 NC & 1 NO or 2 NC for lock monitoring
• Suitable for use with PLCs

Allen Bradley Guardmaster provide a wide range of reliable machine safety switches and components to deliver cost-effective solutions for a variety of industrial applications, giving you maximum flexibility and control.

Note:

Actuator is not supplied and must be ordered separately.

Standards:

Conforms to EN 1088 & EN 60947-5-1.

Warning:

With the TLS-2 GD2 “power to lock” style, provisions may be required to ensure that a dangerous situation can not result from open circuit faults or power cuts.
