RS Pro Schuko Plug to Y Junction IEC C13 Power Cord

From RS Pro a high quality and durable Y Junction power cable assembly or power cord for connecting multiple appliances to a mains power supply. This power cord is fully equipped with a Schuko 2-pin mains plug on one end and three IEC C13 type connectors on the other that allow you to connect several devices using just one cable. The power lead features integrated strain reliefs that provide additional protection and support to the connectors

What is a power cable assembly?

Power cable assemblies are electrical cables that are pre-terminated with a plug or socket connector. Power cable assemblies can be terminated with connectors on both ends of the cable, or just one. Depending on the application, there are various types to suit a wide range of requirements.

What is a Schuko plug?

This cable assembly is terminated one end with a Schuko plug which is one of the primary European AC plug types. The Schuko plug types have 2 pins and are commonly used in countries like Germany and Italy. Although uncommon on UK appliances and machines, the Schuko can still be a common occurrence, especially with items such as shavers and chargers

What is an IEC C13 connector?

The other end of the power cord is terminated with up to three fully moulded IEC C13 plugs which are used to connect the power cord to multiple appliances which have a C14 inlet. C13 and C14 connectors have 3 pins, a rated current of 10 A and a maximum temperature rating of 70°C, and are sometimes referred to as IEC ’cold connectors’. IEC connectors conform to IEC-60320 specifications laid down by the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) to ensure the connectors meet common global design standards

Harmonised Cable

This power lead has an H05VV-F harmonised cable which means it belongs to the Harmonised reference system and conforms to the European Harmonisation Standard. This purpose of this standard is to improve standards and quality of cables across Europe to ensure the trade of common standard product.

What is This Cable Assembly Used With?

EC C13 power cords or IEC leads are for use in IEC Class I appliances and mainly used in computer equipment but can also be used in some domestic and commercial appliances. This Y junction power cord allows one mains socket to be used to connect several devices using a single lead, for example, a CPU, monitor and a peripheral device. Other applications include the following:

• Personal Computers and hard drives
• Test equipment
• Power distribution devices
• Server and network equipment
• Instrumentation amplifiers
• IT equipments
• Computer hard drives.

Features and Benefits

• Flexible and durable H05VV-F harmonised cable with stranded wire core and PVC insulation and sheath
• Schuko (Euro) 2-pin plug
• Fully moulded connectors for strength and durability
• Reliable integrated strain relief for connection support and protection

IEC and International Leads

A range of electrical appliance connecting leads, the majority of which are terminated with connectors that conform to IEC 60320. The IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) is the international standards and conformity assessment body. The drawing illustrates the range of connector types offered within this section - The 'odd' 'C' numbers refer to a socket type connector - mains input - and the 'even' 'C' numbers refer to a plug type connector - the appliance inlet.
