L298 Dual Full Bridge Motor Driver
ST Microelectronics presents its L298 dual full bridge driver series. The L298 series from ST is an integrated high voltage, high current dual full bridge driver. These devices are specially designed to accept standard TTL logic and drive inductive loads in Relays, Solenoids, DC and Stepper Motors. Featured are two enable inputs that allow the L298 to be enabled or disabled independently of the input signals. The emitters of the lower transistors of each bridge are connected together, the corresponding external terminal can be used to connect an external sensing resistor. In addition, a supply input is provided so that the logic works at a lower voltage.
Features
- Operating supply voltage up to 46 V
- Total DC current of up to 4 A
- Low saturation voltage
- Over-temperature protection
- Logical "0" input voltage up to 1.5 V (high noise immunity)
What are Motor Driver IC's?
Motor Driver ICs are current amplifiers and are an essential component of motor interfacing. The motor driver integrated circuit chip acts as the interface between a microprocessor or microcontroller, and a motor. As microprocessors tend to operate at lower currents, and motors at higher, motor driver ICs are needed to supply current to the motor as needed. The RS Components range of Motor Driver ICs includes models from leading brands, in various types and configurations to support your design needs.
